2015 is our 10th year in Mason!

Life is good. Having this farm is a blessing. It’s a safe place for my son to grow up and a relaxed, fun environment where people can learn to ride at their own pace. I have been teaching long before I moved up here and some of my students have been riding with me for over a decade! I am so lucky and appreciate every moment here and wanted to say thank you to all of you, students and friends of this farm, for your part and continued involvement at my “Little Horse Farm That Could.”

Moments that couldn’t or wouldn’t have ever been lived if I didn't have the support of so many people who, years ago, after a tragic, life-changing event, stepped in and helped to keep this place going when times were tough. So many people. I rarely asked, they just showed up and made life better.

No small task.

Where there is will, there is a way and we find it!

There are  many individuals that have given a lot of their time, financial support, commitment and compassion over the years to help keep Hurricane Hill Stables a rather popular staple in our small community. We've put our hearts into keeping this place going and are so grateful for those who are or were with us along this journey. Folks who donated wood when we had propane heat issues in 2009 leaving us without heat as we struggled to keep the farm from foreclosure.  Fixed our water after we went without for over 15 days while another friend lent us the use of their water for the herd to get us through. No horse or human went thirsty. Folks who donated extra hay to help keep the horses plump and warm over winter months. Replaced shelters that had seen better days.  Website modernization and maintenance to help keep our name out there and new business coming.

Most importantly, a dear friend who, with her amazing skills, helped us (my young son and I) get approved for a loan modification after I’d been turned down multiple times in 2010 which is why I am able to sit in my office and write this thank you note. An amazing gift!

Speaking of gifts, we were "gifted" a wonderful horse after losing our dear Bandit years ago (which, as an added bonus for the horse, likely saved his life) and then we received further assistance getting another lesson horse a year later from this good-hearted soul.

I do not have a lot of working students. But, truth is, it’s a tough business to make money at in the first place and at about any farm, a working student works more then they’ll ever ride. It’s the nature of the horse business. A LOT of work! It's a mostly volunteer position though we don't mean for it to be, it is. Horse and farm upkeep is a phenomenal amount of work for the little time I/we actually sit in the saddle. We’re a tough, passionate breed! However, like me, I bet each and every one of you wouldn’t trade a minute of your quality time with horses. They are worth every minute and all of you are simply worth your weight in gold for endless time and the commitment you’ve given to our little horse farm. We have been blessed since moving up here!

Last, but not least, my mom is simply my hero. Without her, Hurricane Hill Stables simply would never have been a reality in the first place. There is a special place in heaven for moms, especially mine!

So, I'm not one for calling people out for things they never did to get attention brought to themselves in the first place. No names here. Y'all know who you are, and there are so many of you that have made, and continue to make, life good around this "little horse farm that could." We are so proud of Hurricane Hill Stables and all of the people that make it "home."

So, a heart-felt thank you from all of the humans and horses of Hurricane Hill Stables. This place, because of all of you, has the biggest heart of any horse farm I know!

PS: Ten. Years. Just, wow!
